Analytix adds FAME preparation capability to microwave instrument

Analytix has added Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) preparation capability to its Ethos range of microwave instruments by developing an application that enables laboratories to derivatise fatty acids in foods using its Ethos UP/EASY microwave systems for subsequent analysis by GC/GCMS.

The development brings additional functionality to the popular instrument and delivers all the benefits of microwave sample preparation to users, such as increased speed, accuracy, efficiency and cleanliness.

The systems allow testing laboratories to achieve the maximum possible levels of efficiency whilst maintaining ongoing compliance with organisations such as UKAS and equivalents across the UK and Ireland.

The Ethos EASY and Ethos UP both have a microwave cavity in excess of 70 litres, the largest currently available, and are compatible with a number of rotors for fast and efficient sample preparation.

FAME preparation with an Ethos system requires the MAXI-44 rotor, a medium-pressure, high-throughput rotor that can carry up to 44 vessels.
