Milestone microwave synthesis systems - Start S

The START S system has been specifically developed for the academic laboratory environment, offering a full-featured microwave labstation at an affordable cost and with student-proof safety. The START S makes available to academia the microwave technology currently used in most advanced R&D organic chemistry industrial laboratories

startSb
  • Rapid results, microwave technology will permit classroom experiments to be completed faster, often in minutes
  • No reactor, normal pressure glass reactor complete with 500 ml flask and reflux condenser
  • Heavy duty microwave labstation engineered for the harsh laboratory environment
  • Durable all-stainless steel construction for long life under heavy student usage
  • Acid/organic solvent resistant cabinet coating
  • Built-in magnetic stirrer for temperature homogeneity and increased yields
  • IR temperature monitoring for accurate temperature control to ensure reproducibility
  • Top opening for easy access to the cavity for introduction of standard glassware
  • Green Chemistry. microwave-enhanced chemistry uses a fraction of the solvents used with traditional methods

Teaching Lab Kit
16-position rotor allows reactions to be reproduced in up to 16 glass vessels. Several students can simultaneously carry out the same reactions described in the QuickSTART Handbook or developed in the Research Lab Kit.
To ensure the maximum standards of safety, all reactions are carried out at normal pressure (reflux valve) or at limited pressure 1.5 bar-20 psi (gravity valve). By fitting each vessel with a gravity valve, temperatures slightly higher than the boiling point of the solvent can be attained. The result is a further reduction of the reaction time while at the same time ensuring safe operating conditions

Colour touch screen controller with easy to use software
You can create, store and use time-vs.-temperature or time-vs.- power reaction profiles.
Once optimised for a specific reaction, a microwave process profile can be used independent of the number of reactions performed simultaneously

QuickSTART Handbook. The Student's Guide
To save time for the itutor in preparing lpractical sessions or seminars, Milestone's Research Lab has already investigated and thoroughly tested several common organic synthesis reactions. The Quick Start illustrated step-by-step procedures will enable students to carry out preset experiments with the NP reactor or the 16- position rotor
