Milestone microwave synthesis systems - MultiSYNTH

The MultYNTH is compact, and versatile system for enhanced microwave organic synthesis. It features single-mode and multi-mode microwave technologies in a single unit, thus allowing for batch and parallel reactions with user selection of continuous or pulsed microwave emission. It performs reflux and pressurized reactions with easy scale-up. Accurate and precise reaction temperature control is provided by unique state-of-the-art sensors in single or multiple vessels, for safe and reproducible working conditions. The MultiSYNTH offers magnetic stirring capabilities and an exclusive vessel 'vibration' system, to ensure homogeneous temperature distribution throughout the solutions in single or multiple vessels. High-efficiency cooling capabilities contribute to enhanced reaction yield during the microwave run, and to reaction quenching at the end of the run

multisyntha
  • Single-mode and multi-mode microwave operation.
  • Pulsed and unpulsed 800 watt power delivery
  • Stirring by reaction mixture through oscillating/rotating of the vessel

  • Single test tubes and 6 or 12-position carousels with flexibility of sample size from 0,25 to 500 ml
  • Fully automated opening/closing of cavity top, for easy integration with lab automation

Single-Mode and Multi-Mode

The Milestone MultiSYNTH combines all the inherent advantages of the single-mode microwave technology, such as fast heating, full control of single reactors, and fast cooling, with all the benefits of multi-mode cavities, such as the ability to run multiple reactions in parallel with complete reproducibility

Single-mode setup
In the single-mode setup a single vessel direclty located in the dedicated single-mode position, in correspondence with the highest energy intensity of the microwave irradiation

Multi-mode setup
In the multi-mode setup a carousel rotates in the microwave cavity, ensuring fast and homogeneous heating of all reaction vessels

Further Enhancing Single-Mode Technology

MultySYNTH_paint1

In traditional single-mode microwave systems, the reaction vial is located inside the microwave waveguide. The position of the vial is critical as the microwave intensity varies from 0 to 100% within a width of 30 mm. Temperature may be uneven, particularly for larger scale reactions and with heterogeneous solutions such as with suspended solids

MultySYNTH_paint2

With the Milestone MultiSYNTH this inherent limitation of single-mode units is overcome by a unique 'mix-and-shake' device. .The vial is mechanically shaken during the course of the reaction to prevent hot spots and to homogenise the reaction temperature

Wide choice of reaction vials

MultySYNTH_accessories

The Milestone MultiSYNTH accommodates a large variety of reaction vials to accomplish any synthesis task.

  • Vials are available in glass or quartz and allow for working volume from 0.25ml to 35ml.
  • Maximum operating temperature is 200°C, and maximum operating pressure is 30 bar.
  • Large reflux glassware can also be used, with a maximum volume of 1 litre.
  • Standard glass vials are located inside a safety shield provided with a spring-type valve for safe pressure release in case of vessel over-pressurisation
